Roger Wu is currently the Executive Director, Project Development, of Haw Par Music Foundation Limited (HPMF), a not-for-profit organisation set up to oversee the operations of Haw Par Music - a centre for cross-culture exchange through music, heritage and the arts based in the revitalised Haw Par Mansion in Tai Hang, Hong Kong. Roger was also the Chief Curator or the 2019/2020 Hong Kong Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture.
Prior to taking up his position in HPMF in February 2014, Roger has worked in a number of architectural practices in the UK and Hong Kong, including a 17 year stint between 1994 and 2010 at John McAslan + Partners in London where Roger has worked on many projects of different scales (ranging from the design of the new King’s Cross Station Concourse in London to a private residence in Seborga, Italy) and different uses (ranging from British Embassy in Algiers, Algeria to Peter Jones department store in London). In particular, Roger has developed exceptional expertise leading major projects, leading international projects and working with historic buildings.
Roger has lectured at architectural schools in universities across the UK, including Bath, Nottingham, Central England, (Birmingham) and Plymouth. Roger also taught design studios at the School of Architecture, Chinese University of Hong Kong, as an Adjunct Associate Professor, and is currently an external examiner for the University of Central Lancaster/IVY BSc architectural degree. Roger is also actively involved with both the Royal Institute of British Architect (RIBA), where he served as the Council Member representing the Asia and Australasian region and founding member of the Hong Kong Chapter, as well as the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), where he served as a member of the Heritage & Conservation and Education Development & Accreditation Committees.
The Pride Road Franchise grew out of Founder Lisa Raynes’ refusal to accept that there was only one way for a woman to have an architecture career and a family life. She built her practice in the domestic sector, and then invested to turn her business into one that other ambitious architects wanting work/life balance can buy into. She’s had a seat on the RIBA Council (2015-18), been Chair of Women in Property NW and founded Manchester Curious, an urban architecture outreach festival. A key focus of the Pride Road Franchise business in a box is the fully-automated customer relation management system, this system helps lead a flow of new clients to our franchisees.
